No ads
No ads in Crux. Here is exactly what that means.
Crux shows no ads. There are no banners, no video ads, no pop-ups and no ads you watch to earn a reward. Our promise to players puts it in five words: No ads. Ever. "Not now, not as a reward, not hidden as content." Crux is a free iPhone and iPad app with a ton of daily games. Every game is free to play and none needs a purchase: some open after a few days of play, or sooner with coins you earn by playing. Crux has a No Wifi section with practice rounds you can play offline; the daily games download each day's puzzle when you are online.
What you will not see
- Banner ads above or below a puzzle.
- Video ads between games, or ads that play when you finish one.
- Pop-up offers from other companies.
- Rewarded ads: you never watch an ad to get a hint, a life or coins.
- Ads dressed up as content, like a "sponsored puzzle".
How Crux pays for itself
Crux makes money from optional purchases: Crux Plus ($4.99 a month or $39.99 a year in the US, one-week free trial for new subscribers) and gem and coin packs ($0.99 to $99.99 in the US), season pass tracks and tips. Plus gives a daily drop of gems and coins, double XP on every solve, and Family Sharing. It does not remove ads, because there are none to remove, and you do not need it to play any game.
What no ads does not mean
- It does not mean no data. The App Store privacy label says purchases, identifiers and usage data may be used to track you. Crux uses Singular to measure which ad campaign, if any, led to an install (with tracking permission on iPhone, and never for players under 13), and Sentry for crash reports. We do not sell personal data for money.
- It does not mean Crux never advertises. Crux may advertise itself in other apps and on other sites. Singular is how we measure which campaigns bring players in.
- It does not mean nothing to buy. Some games open after a few days of play, or sooner with coins you earn by playing. Reward chests are earned by playing and are not sold; their odds are shown in the app.
Where this is written down
- Our promise to players: "No ads. Ever."
- The App Store listing: "Crux shows no ads. No banners, no video ads, no pop-ups."
- Our Privacy Policy: "Crux currently shows no in-game ads."
